Her Excellency Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam has appointed Yonette Cummings-Edwards as the new Chief Justice of the Turks and Caicos Islands, marking the third time a woman has held the nation’s highest judicial office. With more than 37 years of experience, including senior leadership roles in Guyana’s judiciary, she will officially assume the position on May 1, 2026, succeeding Mabel Agyemang. In the interim, Tanya Lobban Jackson will serve as Acting Chief Justice.
